I have one Windows Server 2016 domain controller. It has been in place for about 3 months and has been working well. I have been doing a Full backup of the server every two weeks for disaster recovery and to get my Active Directory backed up.
The backup has been running successfully every time. No errors. Today I am getting an error when I run the backup. There have been no changes made to this system. It is running as a VM under hyper-V. The only thing that has been
done is Windows updates have been installed and the system has been rebooted. No other changes at all.
The errors are as follows:
There was a failure in preparing the backup image of one of the volumes in the backup set. Detailed error: The specified backup disk cannot be found.
If I click to view list of all failed files I get the following:
Backup of volume \\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolume2\ has failed. The specified backup disk cannot be found.
Please help me figure out what is going on with this server.
BYW- I ran a custom backup and selected C: and system state and it ran successfully. However it showed 0KB backed up for System State.
