I went to Windows Server Backup today on our single DC and noticed that recently we’ve had a few backups complete but with warnings. The error that shows is “Backup failed as shadow copy on source volume got deleted. This might be caused by high write activity on the volume. Please retry the backup. If the issue persists consider increasing the shadow copy storage using the resize command.”
Wanted to post here to get some input before I made any changes. Can I simply go into disk management > configure shadow copies and increase the size? The current size of shadow copies on the E: is limited to 178GB for a 1.5TB volume. Not sure if the problem is IO or size restriction.
