Hi,
I am hoping to reuse an existing Dell server to use as my primary backup device. The simple reason is that is has a large capacity and will save me investing in a new storage device.
I have installed Server 2012 on the server and am curious -
1. Should I just create a share on the large volume and point my backup software to the share. In this case should I team the NICs on the server to spread the load.
OR
2. Should I configure the Server 2012 as an iSCSI target.
If I go with Option 2 I need to configure iSCSI Initiator on each device to be backed up - in some cases this is already configured already e.g. my File Server and Hyper-V host already use iSCSI sessions to connect to my SAN. Will this cause a conflict or can these devices use the same iSCSI ports to connect to various iSCSI targets?
Thanks
