wbadmin path specified does not exist

wbadmin is failing to recognise the iscsi attached disk drive as a valid disk to include in windows server backup.

The error returned is:

  • The path specified by '\\?\volume{cbb973dc-e5d9-4c4e-9a39-ca96dannnnnn}\' was not found.  The specified file path does not exist or was not on a locally attached disk.

Well it isn't on a locally attached disk it is on a remote iscsi disk, is this saying that windows backup cannot backup data on an iscsi attached disk or is there some alternative way of referring to an iSCSI disk that I should be using instead?

wbadmin get disks returns:

  • Disk name: LIO-ORG md_block1a SCSI Disk Device
    Disk number: 3
    Disk identifier: {cbb973dc-e5d9-4c4e-9a39-ca96dannnnnn}
    Total space: 119.20 GB
    Used space : 17.96 GB
    Volumes: T:[Test]
