Hi,
I need to create a system restore point on windows server 2008 Standard with SP2 installed. I want to do this prior to making some changes. I know how to create the restore point via the UI (User Interface) i.e. Run msconfig.exe >tools > system restore > launch run "create restore point". Following that process in the UI I get "the system can't find the file specified".
I have system protection turned on and can perform full volume backups with no problem. I just want to create a restore point.
I searched the C:\windows directory on the server for the file, I also expanded the search to C:\. I searched the install media (DVD) it wasn't there. On the media I searched forrstrui, thinking that I may need to expand the file from the install media. Has the process or executables changed in Windows server 8? If so, or not, can some one help me. Point me to either a url where I can download the .exe or let me know the new process. We have a volume license agreement, if that helps finding the file. I also looked for it on windows 2008 R2 with SP1 installed.
Thank you in advance,
Steve
